Accurate measurements are crucial when ordering a custom dance gown to ensure a perfect fit.

Below is a detailed guide on how to measure each part of the body.

These instructions are designed to be professional yet easy to understand.

Unit of Measurement

1. Neck CircumferenceMeasure around the base of the neck, ensuring the tape measure sits comfortably around the neck's natural resting position.

2. Bust/Chest CircumferenceMeasure horizontally around the fullest part of the bust/chest, ensuring the tape is level and not too tight or loose.

3. Waist Circumference *Measure around the narrowest part of the waist. This is typically just above the belly button. Ensure the tape is snug but not tight.

4. Hip CircumferenceMeasure around the fullest part of the hips and buttocks, taking into account any protrusion of the stomach. The tape should be level all the way around.

5. Front Width (Across Chest)Measure the width across the front of the body from one underarm to the other, keeping the tape straight across the chest.

6. Back Width (Across Back)Measure the width across the back from one underarm to the other, keeping the tape straight across the shoulder blades.

7. Shoulder WidthMeasure from the base of the neck (where the neck meets the shoulder) to the prominent bone at the shoulder (shoulder point).

8. Sleeve Length to ElbowStarting from the base of the neck, measure across the shoulder to the elbow, with the arm slightly bent.

9. Full Sleeve LengthStarting from the base of the neck, measure across the shoulder down to the wrist, with the arm slightly bent.

10. Wrist CircumferenceMeasure around the narrowest part of the wrist, where the hand and arm meet.

11. Upper Arm CircumferenceMeasure around the fullest part of the upper arm (bicep area).

12. Circumference Above ElbowMeasure around the arm just above the elbow joint.

13. Elbow CircumferenceMeasure around the elbow joint, ensuring the arm is slightly bent.

14. Back Length to WaistMeasure from the prominent bone at the base of the neck (7th cervical vertebra) straight down to the natural waistline.

15. Front Length to WaistMeasure from the base of the neck down over the fullest part of the bust/chest to the natural waistline.

16. Bust HeightMeasure from the base of the neck to the fullest part of the bust/chest.

17. Bust Point DistanceMeasure the distance between the fullest points of the bust/chest.

18. Torso Length (Body Loop)Measure from the base of the neck down the front of the body, through the legs, and back up to the same point on the back of the neck. This measures the vertical circumference of the torso.

19. Short Torso LengthMeasure from the natural waistline in the front, through the legs, to the natural waistline in the back.

20. Skirt Length to KneeMeasure from the natural waistline down to the middle of the knee.

21. Skirt Length to AnkleMeasure from the natural waistline down to the prominent bone at the ankle.

22. Skirt Length to FloorMeasure from the natural waistline down to the floor, ensuring the child is standing straight and barefoot.

23. Thigh CircumferenceMeasure around the fullest part of the thigh.

24. HeightMeasure from the top of the head to the floor. Make sure the child is standing straight without shoes.
